Detroit Historical Museum |

Since 1928, the Detroit Historical Museum in downtown Detroit has been one of the leading cultural institutions in the Midwest. Through the hard work of the Detroit Historical Society, the preserved artifacts of Detroit are displayed through various exhibitions. There are 8 signature exhibitions that showcase a total of 300 years of important Detroit history. The changing displays rotate every 3 months and feature other nonprofits, educational institutions and community groups in the area. The traveling displays offer visually interesting, yet budget-friendly exhibitions. Centries of Detroit’s rich history make this a budget-friendly must-see stop for natives and tourist alike.

Admission to the Detroit Historical Museum is free, and it’s open every day except Monday. Ample street and lot parking make it easy to delve into the more than 300 years of Detroit history.
