Lofty Expectations
Aloft Detroit at the David Whitney
Few hotels can boast of such a rich history like the Aloft Detroit at the David Whitney. Designed in 1915 by the renowned architectural firm of Daniel H. Burnham & Co., the building is only one of their three surviving Detroit buildings. A comprehensive, $92 million restoration has returned the building to its original grandeur – a 19-story symbol of classic American strength and beauty.
Beautifully lit by a skylight and adorned with marble, terra cotta and gold leafing, the building’s four-story lobby offers a one-of-a-kind welcome. In the floors above, 136 hotel rooms and 105 residences marry contemporary design and décor with every modern comfort. They provide luxurious amenities of home, while the discreet yet attentive staff gives the personalized service expected of a boutique hotel. The stylish rooms and suites feature contemporary décor, free Wi-Fi, 42-inch flat-screen LCD TVs, plush platform beds and Bliss® spa amenities.
While the hotel takes pride in imparting an intimate and relaxing boutique experience, you will also enjoy superb dining, a modern fitness room, sophisticated function venues and a full-service concierge. The renaissance in Downtown Detroit also offers a unique experience within walking distance to all entertainment venues the city has to offer, including all four professional sports teams, world-class theaters and a burgeoning restaurant scene.
